Because the "T'" in HTML stands for "tedium," this page is updated rather
fitfully. Rome wasn't burnt in a day, don'cha' kno' now, bay-bee.

LOVE THOSE BOBS!

My two biggest living influences as a lyricist are Bob Dylan and Robert Plant (RIP "Bill Lee").
What? You don't see the connection between the Zimmer and the Zepper?
Didn't they both do a cover of "In My Time Of Dying?"

I can't be the only person alive who bought Time Out Of Mind
and Led Zeppelin: The BBC Sessions on the very same day.
Anyway. . .For those of you who are fans of either or both, check out:
  • COLUMBIA RECORDS' DYLAN SITE
  • A Bob-o-phile's dream. Archives, lyrics, and video, including the exquisite video for "Not Dark Yet."

  • TIGHT BUT LOOSE
  • A witty, well-written page from England, full of Plantations past and present.

  • KASHMIR: SYMPHONIC LED ZEPPELIN
  • This album was scored and produced by Jaz Coleman, who clearly understands that a symphonic
interpretation of a band's oevure need not sound like muzak. Imagine Holst and Saint-Säens on
Sunset Boulevard. This site is devoted largely to the artwork, so even if you're not a Zep Head,
it's still a feast for the eyes.

FRUITY, FLAKY GOODNESS IN EVERY BITE!
  • POP TARTS
  • White-trash pastry of the gods. Filling, tasty and only 200 calories and 5 grams of fat per tart.
Check out the interactive game show goodness! Mmm . . . Shockwave!

  • STRAWBERRY POP-TART BLOW TORCHES!
  • Dear God! How can something so sweet'n'tasty become so dreadfully lethal? See a pop-tart explode!

IT'S BETTER WITH BUTTER! IT'S BETTER WITH BUTTER!
  • BUTTER IS BEST!
  • Remember when you were a kid, and you went out to eat with your parents, and they told you
not to "fill up on bread?" And remember what those little golden packets of dairy goodness said?
Find out from Land O'Lakes and Friends why it's true!

THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE . . .
  • ELIGHT
  • Coming out is a bitch, especially when you're a teenager. This really is a most empowering site,
full of gay kids' heartfelt spew. Oh, I forgot . . . it's a "choice." Like kids would really choose
to have adolescence hurt even more.

  • BEAUTIFUL BOY
  • Then again, who sez you have to even hurt at all?  Here's a really snappy site, full of queer-boy attitude
and too-cool graphics, for teens and like-minded young dudes in their twenties, and thirties too.

This is not a cruising site, BTW. If that's your deal, then you've wandered into The Hänser Show
by mistake. I ain't Colonel Sanders.

  • CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT
  • An LA-based organization, dedicated to rescuing teenagers -- girls and boys -- from the jackals
of the street, and lives of prostitution and pornography. Another most empowering site,
and one most deserving of contributions, if you're so inclinded -- as you should be.

PARADISE FOUND
  • ARGENTINA
  • The Pampas and the Rio de la Plata and (dare I say) the Peròns have called out my name since
high school. Why? Well, why the hell not? Let Lonely Planet take you there.

  •  VARIG BRAZILIAN AIRLINES
  • Or you could let Varig fly you there, or to Brazil, for that matter. Y'know, they grow an awful lot
of coffee in Brazil. At least that's what Sinatra told us. I wonder if he'd like this site as much as I do.

PARADISE LOST
  • THE KINGDOM OF HAWAI'I
  • Was the annexation of Hawai'i by the USA in 1898 really any different than the USSR's annexation
of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in 1940? Or China's of Tibet in 1950? Decide for yourself.
A most provocative and disturbing web site.

  • THE TIBETAN GOVERNMENT-IN-EXILE
  • Speaking of which . . . visit the Land of Snows itself, via this artful and official web site
dedicated to the preservation and eventual restoration of the Tibetan nation.

TAKE BACK THE NIGHT THEY MURDERED ART
  • FRIENDS OF DRESDEN
  • Churchill and Roosevelt saved Western civilization. Unfortunately, instead of bombing the rail lines to
Auschwitz, they chose to fire-bomb one of the most beautiful cities on the planet near the war's end,
killing 135,000 people, the Hänsers amongst them.

You can help to restore the Frauenkirche to its former baroque splendor, and give Dresden back the
skyline that captivated artists for centuries. You can also help to rebuild the Synagogue, destroyed
by the Nazis on Kristallnacht, and give Dresden's growing Jewish community a needed new home.

Because my ancestors were both Christian and Jewish, these are projects close to my heart.
